Transfer Information
A transfer occurs when established IRA funds are moved from one financial institution to another, remaining as IRA funds during the transfer. An unlimited number of transfers may be completed in a year.
Transferring your IRA to GreenState
How to start: Visit a GreenState branch or contact us at (800) 397-3790 to begin the transfer paperwork.
What you’ll need:
- Your current financial institution’s name and address
- Your account number
- IRA type (i.e., Traditional, Roth)
- Approximate accountbalance
- Beneficiary details (name, DOB, SSN)
What happens next: GreenState will send the request on your behalf. Once the funds arrive, we’ll contact you to discuss investment options.
Transferring Your IRA Away from GreenState
How to start: Contact the receiving institution to initiate the transfer.
What you’ll need:
- GreenState Credit Union’s name and address
- Your GreenState account number
- IRA type (i.e., Traditional, Roth)
- Approximate account balance
What happens next: GreenState will process the transfer within 24 business hours once we receive the request.
Fee: A $28 transfer fee applies.
Rollover Information
A rollover involves moving IRA funds from one institution to another. You have 60 days to redeposit the funds after receiving them. One rollover per 365 days is allowed for personal IRAs (not employer-sponsored plans).
Rollover IRA Funds to GreenState
How to start: Request a distribution from your current financial institution and follow their check processing rules. Then visit a GreenState branch within 60 days to deposit the funds and complete paperwork.
What you’ll need:
- A check from the current financial institution
- Complete GreenState paperwork for the rollover
What happens next: The check will be deposited into a GreenState IRA as a rollover.
Rollover IRA Funds from GreenState to Another Institution
(Not subject to the one rollover per year rule, but reportable.)
How to start: Request a distribution at a GreenState branch, then take the check to your new institution within 60 days and notify them it’s a rollover.
What you’ll need:
- GreenState account/share number
- IRA type & value
What happens next: You’ll fill out paperwork with the new institution to deposit the check and complete the rollover.
Rollover IRA Funds from GreenState to Employer-Sponsored Plan
(Not subject to the one rollover per year rule, but reportable.)
How to start: Contact the receiving institution to initiate paperwork to send to GreenState. Once the request is received, GreenState will send a check directly to them.
What you’ll need:
- Current financial company name & mailing address
- Account number & value
- Employer-Sponsored Plan type (Traditional or Roth)
- Beneficiary info (name, DOB, SSN)
What happens next: GreenState will process the rollover request within 24 business hours once they receive the request.
